Message from your County Administrator, Lindsey

Dear All,

Could I suggest that - in order to be as up-to-date as possible on what is happening in England in relation to outdoor lawn bowls, for yourself and for your clubs -  you put the following Web address amongst your Web browser 'Favourites' :  https://www.bowlsengland.com/news-items/     This is actually the 'News' page for the Bowls England Web site.  This currently includes some of the items and documents that I have previously forwarded to clubs and to GBA Officers/Officials, but also some other currently-interesting stuff relating to the Covid-19 coronavirus.

In general, if you retain it once the Covid-19 has run its course, this Web page will always have at the top the most recent and most significant news items, plus [running down the page] main news items going backwards over many months.

By way of example, and highly current, the very recent news item titled  'Coronavirus (COVID-19) Frequently Asked Questions -  23rd March, 2020' has some useful references to such things as : 1) whether clubs and greens are allowed to be open just now  2)  greens maintenance at present   3) what events have and have not been cancelled   4)  Entry fees for National Competitions   5)  Champion of Champion entries in 2021   6) Coach Bowls   7)  Play Bowls, and lots more.

In relation to (2) above, I recognise that this is a matter of crucial importance to clubs, and have written to Bowls England already this, in fact also written to Bristol City Council about lack of maintenance on parks greens.  I hope to have something more on both of these, in the next few days.

Regards,

Lindsay, County Administrator

Staying active during the Covid-19 outbreak

More and more of us are spending time at home and thinking about other ways of being active.

Official advice recommends against non-essential contact and all unnecessary travel - including working from home if you can - which means our routines are going to be changing.

But staying active is more important than ever right now, and even if you’re mostly in your house at the moment, there are plenty of ways you can still do so.

Sport England has produced the guidance at: www.sportengland.org/news/how-stay-active-while-youre-home

Bowls England is working on some dedicated ‘keep fit’ guidance for its members and will ensure this is available at the earliest opportunity.
