|Nailsworth Mills Bowls Club 2022||
On a great day to play bowls we had the final of the Covid Plate competition. The teams were Bunny and Goff versus Julia and Julie.
Although Bunny & Goff had a great start the ladies put up a valiant effort and started to pull them back until a couple of strong ends from the lads saw them race away to an impressive finish. Well done to all the players for giving us socially distanced spectators a great afternoon.
The Finals of the, hopefully never to be repeated, COVID Cup was played last weekend and the Winners were Bob Jennings and Richard Fillis and the Runners up were John Partridge and Tom Beardsell. The final score was 23- 9 and the match was much tighter than the score suggests.
The Winners were presented with Cups (actually Mugs) and the runners up each received a bottle. The date for the Plate Final is today from 2pm.
Congratulations to the whole green team for looking after the grounds so well during lockdown.
We guess the grass had a chance to catch up without regular matches taking place but we are looking forward to returning to competition against other clubs next year and to having a fine green to play on.
This Blog is an opportunity for us to announce events and post interesting articles about the Club.
