Hi all,
Don't forget it is the presentation and skittles evening this Friday 11th October. Bring along a raffle prize if you can. See you there. The Stuart Singers are performing at St George’s on 12th October to help raise money for their “re-ordering’ appeal to make the Church building a more useable space. Go along and support them if you can.
To Club Secretaries and County Officers Dear All, The attached report on Gloucestershire involvement and achievement in the 2024 National Finals at Royal Leamington Spa, has been submitted and will shortly be on the GBA Website, but - in case not all of your members routinely go to the Website - I attach it herewith. You may like to circulate it or post on your club notice board. Regards, Lindsay County Administrator
The club competition finals have taken place over the past week or so with most games taking place last weekend. I huge thanks to all involved in the organisation, marking, scoring, food preparation and clearing up each day. Some close and highly entertaining games - particularly the last game with the ladies drawn pairs, with Rachel and Mandy winning by just one shot on the extra end following a tie break at 18 ends.

It was a warm sunny afternoon and the draw was very kind, giving every team a mix of players to make it hard to predict who the winners would be.
With 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw there were 3 teams with 4 points each at the end of it, so it was decided based on the team that won the most ends. That honour went to Team C having won 9 ends, with Team F a close second at 8 ends and the trophy was presented by Bryan James. Bryan has organised the triples tournament for several years but has decided to step down this year. The club is therefore looking for someone to pick up the reigns in 2025. The Team C players were Helen Ledger, Chris Crampton and Richard Hill so congratulations go to all three. Thursday evening August 1st saw the second annual NME Bowls Bash Challenge get under way.
With 16 pairs from companies across the estate involved it was a lively, fun and competitive event played in the best of spirits. After two heats of 4 games the team with the highest score from each heat went through to the final play off of just 5 ends to decide the winning team. Heat One Winners: Bruce and Dave of the Bookish Buccaneers Heat Two Winners: Adam and Ellen of d&b Bowlers Team D The winners of the final, Adam and Ellen of d&b Bowlers Team D, won by 20 points to 15 and were presented with the shield and wine by Jasper Chamberlain, the competition sponsors. The shield is off to be engraved and will be held by d&b Audiotechnik until next summer. A huge thanks to Chamberlains Estate and to all the estate workers that attended and supported the event. Also to all the loyal NMBC members for marking, helping at the mat and catering for the 50 or so people that attended. Here's looking forward to 2025 and to see which teams are gunning for their names on that trophy :-) In addition to being part of the winning Triples Team, Pat also made runner up in the Ladies County 2-wood singles so will make a separate trip to Leamington on 29th August. We wish her every success.
Nailsworth trio Pat, Liz and Julia beat Victory Park Ladies in the County Triples Final at Falcon BC last week and now head to the Bowls England National Finals at Leamington on Saturday 17th August. Their first game will be against Nottingham. Times yet to be announced. If you are planning to go one day why not make it the Saturday?
